Financial Center for Quincy Credit Union in Marshfield

Quincy Credit Union is based in Quincy, MA, proudly serving the local communities of Plymouth, Norfolk, and Dorchester. The 751 Plain Street (Marshfield, MA) location is the first of a new member experience concept and design to increase their presence within the community and to offer a new more member-focused banking experience.

The building is a single story ground-up with a footprint just under 1800 SF. The building is clad in a pre-weathered Alaskan yellow cedar planks installed horizontally as a rain screen with 1/2 exposure between each plank. The wood cladding references the local vernacular but the detailing expresses the thinness and individuality of the plank. The building is a simple rectangle design consisting of two intersected volumes with a third frosted glass volume. A large expanse of glazing on the lower wall continues around the corner to the east side lightening the upper wood volume resulting in a collage of wood, clear and frosted glazing. There is a formal conversation between interior and exterior that continues throughout the building adding complexity and distinction to an otherwise simple structure.
